Around the holidays, Singapore hosted the "Elephant Parade." Numerous painted elephants, designed by various artists, were on display around the city for several weeks. In addition to the large elephants, one could purchase smaller versions of the creations. The large elephants were auctioned off at the end of the exhibition and a percentage of the proceeds benefitted elephant conservation efforts in Asia, so it was a worthwhile cause. With elephants found at most travel destinations in this part of the world, nearly everyone falls in love with the giant, gentle animals during their time here.
While shopping with the girls one day, I briefly stopped in a local department store that was selling the small versions of the painted elephants. We were pleasantly surprised to discover an elephant painting clinic at the store that day, so all three girls crafted their own painted elephants as keepsakes. I'm glad they will all have their own elephants as souvenirs of our time spent in Asia.
